Vincent graduated cum laude from UCLA with a B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology with a minor in Neuroscience. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Yale University with research funding from the NSF GRFP and Wu Tsai Institute.

As an undergraduate researcher in the lab of Dr. Rhonda Voskuhl at UCLA investigating the neurodegenerative mechanisms of multiple sclerosis, Vincent developed an interest in the role of non-neuronal cells (i.e. glia) in neurobiology and nervous system diseases. Through his particular interest in astrocytes, Vincent was selected for the PKU-UCLA Joint Research Institute Scholarship to conduct research abroad at Peking University where he studied astrocyte biology in the context of traumatic brain injuries under the guidance of Dr. Lina Li. With a desire to learn systems neuroscience approaches in addition to cellular and molecular techniques, Vincent then pursued postgraduate research in the lab of Dr. Kira Poskanzer at UCSF. There, Vincent worked on several projects that aimed to understand how astrocytes respond to neuromodulatory systems to regulate cortical circuits underlying distinct behavioral states like sleep and wake.

Outside of lab,  you can catch Vincent enjoying the outdoors—either hiking or fishing—or jamming out to some tunes on the guitar.
